Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 2,   Pages 35-39

Abstract:

This paper introduces some developing trends of new materials and material sciences, such as multifunction, composite, miniaturization, low cost manufacturing and analyses the basic properties and problems of processing of high performance ceramics nowadays. The paper briefly describes some special properties, possible application fields and mass production problems of ceramics with structural and functional properties combined, such as silicon carbide, Nd doped YAG, and Sialon with rare-earth elements added. Finally, proposed several topics (including processing sciences)of such kind of multifunction materials for future research and developing.

POCl3sub> diffusion for industrial Si solar cell emitter formation

Hongzhao LI,Kyung KIM,Brett HALLAM,Bram HOEX,Stuart WENHAM,Malcolm ABBOTT

Frontiers in Energy 2017, Volume 11, Issue 1,   Pages 42-51 doi: 10.1007/s11708-016-0433-7

Abstract: POCl diffusion is currently the standard method for industrial n-type emitter fabrication. In this study, we present the impact of the following processing parameters on emitter formation and electrical performance: deposition gas flow ratio, drive-in temperature and duration, drive-in O flow rate, and thermal oxidation temperature. By showing their influence on the emitter doping profile and recombination activity, we provide an overall strategy for improving industrial POCl tube diffused emitters.

Chemical deactivation of V

Xiaodong WU, Wenchao YU, Zhichun SI, Duan WENG

Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering 2013, Volume 7, Issue 3,   Pages 420-427 doi: 10.1007/s11783-013-0489-0

Abstract: V O -WO /TiO catalyst was poisoned by impregnation with NH Cl, KOH and KCl solution, respectively. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), N physisorption, Raman, UV-vis, NH adsorption, temperature-programmed reduction of hydrogen (H -TPR), temperature-programmed oxidation of ammonia (NH -TPO) and selective catalytic reduction of NO with ammonia (NH -SCR). The deactivation effects of poisoning agents follow the sequence of KCl>KOH>>NH Cl. The addition of ammonia chloride enlarges the pore size of the titania support, and promotes the formation of highly dispersed V=O vanadyl which improves the oxidation of ammonia and the high-temperature SCR activity. K ions are suggested to interact with vanadium and tungsten species chemically, resulting in a poor redox property of catalyst. More importantly, potassium can reduce the Br?nsted acidity of catalysts and decrease the stability of Br?nsted acid sites significantly. The more severe deactivation of the KCl-treated catalyst can be mainly ascribed to the higher amount of potassium resided on catalyst.

Huan Liu, Zhen Ma

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2017, Volume 11, Issue 4,   Pages 586-593 doi: 10.1007/s11705-017-1659-6

Abstract: Hexagonal CePO nanorods were prepared by a precipitation method and hexagonal CePO nanowires were prepared by hydrothermal synthesis at 150 °C. Rh(NO ) was then used as a precursor for the impregnation of Rh O onto these CePO materials. The Rh O supported on the CePO nanowires was much more active for the catalytic decomposition of N O than the Rh O supported on CePO nanorods. The stability of both catalysts as a function of time on stream was studied and the influence of the co-feed (CO , O , H O or O /H O) on the N O decomposition was also investigated. The samples were characterized by N adsorption-desorption, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron microscopy, hydrogen temperature-programmed reduction, oxygen temperature-programmed desorption, and CO temperature-programmed desorption in order to correlate the physicochemical and catalytic properties.

Efficient CO

Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering 2021, Volume 15, Issue 3,   Pages 493-504 doi: 10.1007/s11705-020-1967-0

Abstract: In this work, nitrogen-doped porous carbons (NACs) were fabricated as an adsorbent by urea modification and KOH activation. The CO adsorption mechanism for the NACs was then explored. The NACs are found to present a large specific surface area (1920.72–3078.99 m ·g ) and high micropore percentage (61.60%–76.23%). Under a pressure of 1 bar, sample NAC-650-650 shows the highest CO adsorption capacity up to 5.96 and 3.92 mmol·g at 0 and 25 °C, respectively. In addition, the CO /N selectivity of NAC-650-650 is 79.93, much higher than the value of 49.77 obtained for the nonnitrogen-doped carbon AC-650-650. The CO adsorption capacity of the NAC-650-650 sample maintains over 97% after ten cycles. Analysis of the results show that the CO capacity of the NACs has a linear correlation ( = 0.9633) with the cumulative pore volume for a pore size less than 1.02 nm. The presence of nitrogen and oxygen enhances the CO /N selectivity, and pyrrole-N and hydroxy groups contribute more to the CO adsorption. Fourier transform infrared spectra analysis indicates that CO is adsorbed onto the NACs as a gas. Furthermore, the physical adsorption mechanism is confirmed by adsorption kinetic models and the isosteric heat, and it is found to be controlled by CO diffusion. The CO adsorption kinetics for NACs at room temperature and in pure CO is in accordance with the pseudo-first-order model and Avramís fractional-order kinetic model.
